Maternity sessions are not typically very long. Depending on the number of looks we are trying to achieve or how elaborate the set up is a maternity session typically lasts 1-2hrs.
Newborn sessions however last a little longer averaging 3-4 hrs. Every baby is different and we will give them plenty of time to feed and cuddle to make sure they are comfortable, safe, and happy.
Cake smashes and milestone sessions tend to go very quickly as the attention span of a young child is very short. We will be back and forth and most likely the picture taking segments will only last a few minutes. It is important the child is relaxed and not being made to do something they may not want to do at that particular moment as this may result in a session without very many good photos to choose from.
You are absolutely welcome to bring anything to a session that you would like!
However bringing props is not necessary. If there is something specific you would like in your photos and I don’t have it in the studio I will be sure to purchase it or something similar. This is why I require a retainer for each shoot. So that I can make sure I have everything that you may need.😊
It takes anywhere from 3-4 weeks for your photos to be completed. Depending on the shoot and the number of images you are looking for. Your images are guaranteed to be finished by week 4.

taking a picture
There is a lot that goes into what I do. It doesn’t stop at the click of the shutter button. I love the work that comes with the process of creating a beautiful image or a mesmerizing video.
Taking the photo is the first step. I take my time to make your image come to life! My goal is for you to be able to look back on the images we create and say to yourself some version of “I can’t believe….”
Planning & Scheduling
The first step after you get in contact with me is to schedule a date and time that our shoot will take place. We will also discuss your goals and the looks that you wish to achieve. For newborn shoots, I will go over things we can do to prep for a very sleepy baby and easy shoot.
Location Selection
We then will come up with ideas for locations where the shoot will take place. Depending on the look we are going for we can take a look at outdoor locations, in the comfort of your home, or my studio set up. For newborn shoots I do highly suggest in home sessions. It is much better for newborn baby I believe to stay away from the elements outdoors as much as possible at such a young age. Of course I take precautions to keep everyone safe.
The Shoot
It all starts with the camera.The lighting setup however is probably the most important part unbeknownst to most. Without good lighting you can not take good photos. Outdoor natural light on a cloudy day is surprisingly beautiful. Flash photography give that complete control that allows me to shape the light anyway that I so choose. I use the light in different ways to create amazing portraits!
Post processing
The editing process is probably the most time consuming part of what I do. Depending on the photo it can take anywhere from ours to days to complete a single photo. Regardless, I take my time to go over every image or clip to find the perfect few and I edit to create amazing visual art that you will be absolutely proud to show off!
Digital Presentation
Not too long after our shoot is finished the final draft will be prepared. I will create a beautiful presentation just for you. We can either meet in person or via video chat, whichever you prefer. I require your trust that I will choose the most flattering images that will allow you to shine in your brightest light.
Printing, Wall Art, & Albums
Prints are available and highly encouraged. You haven't truly seen your images until you have seen them printed on beautiful photo paper. I do not print on the typical glossy paper that you may be used to from a typical 1 hr photo printer. I prefer a more luxurious feel matte 100% cotton paper that will draw anyone's attention when matted, framed, and mounted on the wall. Truly a piece of art to catch the eye of anyone who passes by.
All portraits are printed on fine art archival quality paper and ink that will not fade. This gives you the ability to showcase your photos for years. Your family will be able to cherish your images for generations to come.
